Guidelines for Registration and Filling of Online Application

Read the INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES  carefully before filling the application form.

Use a valid and functional (separate) e-mail ID / Mobile number for Registration of each candidate.

Mode of payment is only through Payment Gateway (Internet Banking/Credit card/ATM-cum-Debit card).

  In addition, to the REGISTRATION FEE of Rs.500/ or Rs.250/-(for ST/SC/SCA Candidates belonging to

Tamil Nadu) the applicant has to pay applicable Bank charges(Payment Gateway).

After filling in all the essential details required in the Online application; you can either select, 'SAVE AND LOGOUT

or 'SAVE AND PREVIEW'. The 'SAVE AND LOGOUT' option allows you to modify the entered data.

 Once you select the 'PRINT' option, you cannot modify the entered details.

Application number will be generated and the number will be printed in the application.

Note down the application number for future reference.

Download the filled-in application generated in the online system and keep it for your future correspondences.

Step 5: FINAL REVIEW AND GENERATE PDF – Review the filled online application using preview button

before printing the application.

Step 7: Send the application either in person or through post along with required enclosures.

Note to Applicants:

Self-attested Photocopy of the Original certificates issued by the competent authority supporting to your

Candidates  appeared  for  HSC  /  Equivalent  examination  in  March  2017  must  produce Original Mark

sheet and TC at the time of counselling. However, downloaded copy of the mark sheet should be enclosed,

others to enclose a copy of Mark sheet and TC.

FOR EMINENT SPORTS PERSONS QUOTA:

Online  Applications  alongwith  all  enclosures  and  documents  related  to  Sports  should  be submitted

IN  PERSON  at  the  office  of  the  Secretary  (TNEA),  otherwise  the  application  under sports  quota  will  be

rejected.  Candidates  are  advised  to  collect  an  acknowledgement  after submitting the Application.

CERTIFICATES:

Candidates may select the certificates which are relevant to them and get the certificates readily available, so as to

enable them to submit the TNEA 2017 applications soon after the publication of HSC / Equivalent Examination results. 
(1) Nativity Certificate
Tamil Nadu Native candidates who have not studied any one of VIII, IX, X, XI and XII Standard or whole in Tamil

Nadu needs to submit Nativity Certificate along with the application for TNEA 2017.Electronic form of Digitally

signed Nativity e-certificate can be obtained from Zonal Deputy Tahsildar/Tahsildar. 
(2) First Graduate tuition fee exemption(Rs.20,000/- PA)
Tamil Nadu native candidates who are to be first graduate in a family, those who are attending counselling and

joined in professional courses in Government / Aided and Self-Financing Engineering Colleges (for Government quota)

alone are eligible. (If the applicant's brother or sister has already availed First Graduate Tuition Fee

concession for studying Professional Courses, then the applicant is not eligible for such concession). Electronic

 

 

 

form of Digitally signed e-certificate for first graduation can be obtained from Deputy Tahsildar/Tahsildar. 
(3) Special Reservation

ELIGIBILITY RULES FOR INDIAN NATIONALS:

General

Candidates  satisfying  the  eligibility  conditions  given  below  as  on  the  last  date  of submission of application are eligible to apply. Passing the qualifying examination after the last date of submission of application shall not be considered.

1. Nativity

i)  Tamil Nadu candidates who have passed VIII, IX, X, XI and XII Std. in Tamil Nadu are eligible to apply.

They need not enclose Nativity Certificate.

ii)  Tamil Nadu native candidates who have passed any of the VIII, IX, X, XI and XII  Std.  or  their  equivalent  examination  from  schools  situated  outside  Tamil Nadu can also apply. They should enclose a copy of Nativity Certificate only in electronic form/digitally signed e-Certificate.

iii)  Children  of  Central  Government  Employees  may  also  apply  for  admission, irrespective  of  their  native,  provided  their  parents  or  guardians  (only  if  both parents are not alive) have been serving in Tamil Nadu

continuously for the past FIVE YEARS at the time of submission of application, which should be supported  by

enclosing  a  certificate  from  the  employer  of  the  parent  or guardian, to that effect.

iv)  Children of employees in Public Sector or Government recognised Institutions who at the time of submission of application for admission employed in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past five years  may also apply  irrespective

of their domicile.  A  certificate  from  the  employer  has  to  be  enclosed  along  with  the application  stating

that  the person is  a  Permanent  Employee  of  the  Firm  or Institution concerned with evidence like Income

Tax return, PF Slips, etc. and is working in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past FIVE YEARS.

v)  Sons and daughters of All India service Tamil Nadu cadre officers are eligible  to apply.

vi)  Other State candidates who have studied VIII, IX, X, XI and XII Std. in Tamil Nadu are eligible to apply.

They need not enclose “Nativity Certificate”.

Note:

1.  Applications  without  proper  Nativity  Certificate  for  Category  (ii)  and without proper employer certificate for categories (iii) and (iv) will not be considered.

2.  Categories (v) and (vi) need not enclose employer certificate / nativity certificate.

3.  Tamil Nadu native candidates alone will be considered for communal reservation  i.e.  categories  from

  (iii)  to  (vi)  will  be  considered  under “Open Competition”.

2. Srilankan Tamil Refugee

As  per  G.O.  (St)  No.  172  Higher  Education  (J2)  Dept.  dated:  29.06.2010  candidates who are Srilankan Tamil Refugee studied in Tamil Nadu will be considered under open competition. They have to enclose the following:

(i)  Identification certificate from the Head Quarters Tahsildar.

(ii)  Those who have not registered in the refugee camp should submit

a copy of passport, visa and letter registered with Police Station.

3. Qualifying Examinations and Eligibility

A pass in the HSC (Academic) or its equivalent with a minimum average percentage in

Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together as given below.

4.  Improvement  marks:  As  per  the  G.O.  No.  184  HE  (J2)  Dept.  dt:  09.06.2005  and G.O.  (st)  No.  143  HE

(J2)  Dept.  dt:  06.05.2008  improvement  marks  obtained  by  the  candidates including Other State candidates from 2006 onwards will not be considered.

5. Marine Engineering Branch

The  Director  General  of  Shipping,  Ministry  of  Shipping,  Government  of  India,  vide Notification No. II. TR (21) 97 dated: 03.10.2002 have issued notification stating that, for  Marine  Engineering  Degree  Programme  the  candidate  should  pass  in  10+2  or equivalent examination with Physics (P), Chemistry (C), Mathematics (M) and English as  separate  subject  with  an  average  of  not  less  than  60  %  in  PCM.  Further  a minimum  of  50  %  in  English  either  at  10th or  12th standard  is  required  for  all  the candidates.

Other Requirements:

(i)  Maximum age limit 25 years.

(ii)  Minimum Height 157 cm.

(iii)  Minimum Weight 48 kg.

(iv)  Normal Colour vision

Before selecting the course the candidate shall ensure that they are medically fit for the course.The  candidates  will  be  admitted  only  on  production  of  physical  fitness  certificate obtained  from  the  Medical  Officer  authorised  by  the  Director  General  of  Shipping, failing which they will lose the admission.

6. Mining Engineering Branch

Note  to Female candidate opting for Mining Engineering course.

(1) As  per  Mines  Act  1952,  46  (1)  no  woman  shall,  notwithstanding  anything contained in any other law, be employed –

(a) in any part of a mine which is below ground;

(b) in any mine above ground except between the hours of 6 A.M. and 7 P.M.

(2) As  per  Coal  Mines  Regulation  1957,  86  (2)  no  adolescent  or  women  shall descent  or  ascend  a  shaft

in  a  cage  or  other  means  of  conveyance  unless accompanied by one or more adult males.

(3) They should satisfy the academic norms of Anna University.

MODE OF SELECTION

(a)  (i) ADMISSION TO GENERAL CATEGORY

The  selection  of  candidates  will  be  based  on  the  marks  obtained  in  the  prescribed  subjects  reduced  to  200

(Mathematics – 100, Physics + Chemistry – 100) in the qualifying examination.

(ii) Normalisation of Marks and Inter-se Merit

As per Tamil Nadu Acts No.3 of 2007, dt: 05.03.2007 and G.O. (Ms) No.77 HE (J2) Dept, dt: 05.04.2007, the marks obtained  by  the  students  in  the  relevant  subjects  in  the  qualifying  examination  conducted  by  various  Boards  or Authority  shall  be  equated  with  the  marks  obtained  by  the  students  in  the  same  subjects  in  the  qualifying examination conducted by the State Board of Tamil Nadu by adopting the method of normalisation.

(e.g.) If the highest mark secured by the student of State Board of Tamil Nadu in Physics is 100 and the highest mark secured by a student of any  other Board in the same  subject is 90 both the highest marks will be considered to  be

equal to 100. If a student of the other Board secures 60 marks in Physics when the first mark in Physics in the same Board is 90, 60 marks will be considered to be equal to 66.66 marks as arrived below.

After normalisation of marks in the relevant subjects in the qualifying examination conducted by different Boards, the qualified students shall be merged into a common merit list.

In  the  case  of  candidates  who  have  qualified  from  National  Boards  namely  CBSE  and  ISCE,  the  highest  mark obtained  in  the  relevant  subject  by  the  candidates  at  the  National  Level  alone  will  be  taken  into  consideration  for normalisation. The  Other  Boards  will  be  requested  to  furnish  the  maximum  marks  scored  in  the  relevant  subjects.  In  case,  such marks  are not available before the preparation of rank, the maximum marks  scored in that Board will be considered as 100 %.

For minimum eligibility, normalised marks will not be considered.

A merit list will be prepared based on the total mark of 200. In cases where more than one candidate have  got the

same marks in the common merit list, the inter-se-merit among such candidates shall be determined in the order of

priority as specified below.

(1)  Percentage  of  marks  in  Mathematics,  (2)  Percentage  of  marks  in  Physics,  (3)  Percentage  of  marks

in  the  Fourthoptional subject, (4) Date of Birth (elder will be given preference) & (5) Random number assigned

(higher value will be given preference).

 Separate announcement will not be given in Newspapers. The college and the branch will be provisionally allotted through counselling only, as per their choice.

(iii) Admission to Special Reservation Categories

Candidates who are applying for seats under  special reservation categories as in item  21  & 22 (Refer section 5.1

and 5.2) should satisfy the rules stipulated for admission. Allocation of these Special Reservation seats will be

followed as per communal reservation.

Selection for item 21 will be based on the ranking as given in 6(a) (i) and (ii).

Selection for item 22 will be based on the total marks obtained for achievements in Sports as per Annexure II.

If any vacancy arises it will be reverted to the general counselling in the respective communities.

(b) ADMISSION OF VOCATIONAL STREAM CANDIDATES

100 seats in Category I and 4 % of seats surrendered in Category II have been set apart  vide G.O. (Ms.) No. 290

HE (J2) Dept. dt: 21.08.2007 for the HSC (vocational stream) candidates. The academic marks in the prescribed

subjectswill be reduced to 200 (Related subject 100 marks, vocational subject includingtheory and practical

100 marks). Seats are  not  reserved  in  University  Departments  and  University  Colleges.  Selection  will  be

made  following  the  Communal reservation. Ranking and counselling will be separate for vocational candidates.

Out of 3  % Vocational  seats in Category I  and II,  the reservation for  Differently Abled Persons  candidates  is

1  % for Orthopaedically Differently Abled Persons, 1 % for Hearing Impaired and 1 % for Visually Impaired.

(c)  ADMISSION TO SANDWICH COURSES

Sandwich courses in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and  Electronics Engineering and Production Engineering

are offered  at  PSG  College  of  Technology  under  self-financing  scheme.  The  duration  of  the  course  is

5  Years.It  comprises  of  practical  training  in  the  mornings  and  class  work  in  the  evenings.  There  will  be  an  additional  fee payable towards practical training and it will be intimated by the Principal of the college at the time of admission.

COUNSELLING  OF CANDIDATES :

Candidates will be called for counselling in the order of their merit. Based on the merit and communal reservation, allotment of the branch/college chosen by the candidate will be made. Candidates have to opt for colleges an

branches that are available at the time of counselling. Candidates have to pay an initial deposit of 5000/- (`1000/- for SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamilnadu) by Cash or DD and produce all their original certificates when they attend counselling.   If a candidate has deposited all the certificates in an Institution where he/she has already

 been admitted, a letter from the Head of the Institution should be produced to that effect. In such case only, attested photocopies of certificates from the Head of the Institution will be accepted for verification. However, the provisional allotment order will be withheld and it will be released only on production of all the original certificates.

Eligible candidates who have applied may appear for counselling according to their cut-off mark, two hours before

the counselling session along with their original certificates for verification, irrespective of receipt of individual communication.The date, time and venue for counselling will be intimated to the candidates and would also be available in Anna University website. No change of date/time of counselling is permissible. Authorities are not responsible for any postal delay; or non-receipt of intimation for counselling. Candidates who do not attend counselling have to forego the claim for admission.

 Due to unforeseen and unavoidable reasons, if a candidate is unable to attend the counselling on the specified

 

 

 

date and time, he/she can authorise his/her parent on his/her behalf and the parent’s decision will be binding on the candidate.

 Due to unforeseen reasons, if a candidate could not attend the counselling on the specified date and time, he/she

can attend on a subsequent time/date, during the counselling period. But the candidate can only opt for the seats available at that time and cannot claim any seat as per their original rank. If the ranking of a candidate is changed

due to re-totalling/revaluation of mark, he/she can attend counselling as per the new mark and rank, though the

call letter specifies a different date (as per original mark). Once allotted a seat, the amount ` 5,000/- (` 1,000/-

in the case of SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu) already paid at the time of counselling will be

adjusted in the tuition fee. If a candidate does not join after allotment and seeks refund, only 80 % of the initial

deposit amount paid at the time of counselling will be refunded.

In such cases original allotment order with acknowledgement for the receipt of payment should be surrendered

on or before 31.12.2017. The refund will be processed only through TNEA 2017 refund processing system

available online in TNEA website.

All admissions made through single window system are provisional.

CHOICE ONCE MADE IS FINAL AND CANNOT BE CHANGED.

                    As per G.O. (D) No. 242 dated 18.7.2017, Higher Education (J2) Department, Tamil Nadu, Anna University will be

conducting Tamil Nadu Aptitude Test in Architecture (TANATA) for the year 2017. This test is intended for admission of

students into the B. Arch degree course under Management Quota and Government Quota lapsed seats for the year

2017-18. As per the current practice being followed, Government Quota seats will continue to be filled by Anna University

based on the marks obtained in + 2 examination and in NATA 2016/2017.

          The Management Quota and the Government Quota lapsed seats will be filled up based on the marks obtained

in + 2 examination and in the marks obtained in NATA 2016/2017.

          The remaining vacant seats will be filled up based on the marks obtained in + 2 examination and in the marks

obtained in JEE II.

          Then the remaining vacant seats if any, will be filled based on marks obtained in + 2 examination and marks

obtained in TANATA 2017.

           ABOUT TANATA 2017 : Tamil Nadu Aptitude Test in Architecture 2017 measures the aptitude of the applicant in the

  • NATA 2017 : The candidates should have obtained marks greater than or equal to the qualifying marks (70 out of 200) prescribed in NATA 2017 score card.
  • NATA 2016 : The candidates should have obtained valid score (80 out of 200) in NATA 2016. The candidates who appeared in NATA 2016 and NATA 2017 may apply for admission on the basis of valid NATA score obtained by the candidates either in NATA 2016 or NATA 2017.
  1. HSC (Academic)/Equivalent The candidates who have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination with Mathematics / Business Mathematics as one of the subjects.
  2.  Candidates other than BC/ BCM / MBC & DNC / SC/ SCA / ST should have secured not less than 50% marks in aggregate.

of priority as specified below:-

(1) Academic Aggregate for 200

(2) Date of Birth (elder will be given preference)

 (3) Random number assigned

(higher value will be given preference).

Separate announcement will not be given in Newspapers. The candidates will also be informed of their rank

individually by post through the counselling call letter. The college will be provisionally allotted only through

counselling, as per their choice.

(b) ADMISSION TO SPECIAL RESERVATION CATEGORY

Candidates who are applying for special reservation categories of seats under item 20 & 21 (Refer Section 5.1 &

5.4 of Information & Instructions to Candidates) should satisfy the rules stipulated for admission. Allocation of

Special Reservation seats will be followed as per communal reservation.

Selection for item 20 will be based on their ranking on the total marks (out of 400) obtained in the qualifying Examination as given in 6 a. Selection for item 21 will be based on the total marks obtained for Achievements in sports as per Annexure II.If any vacancy arises, it will be reverted to the general counselling in the respective communities.

 COUNSELLING OF CANDIDATES

 Candidates will be called for counselling in the order of their merit. Based on the merit and communal reservation, allotment of college chosen by the candidate will be made. Candidates have to opt for colleges that are available

at the time of counselling.

 Candidates have to pay an initial deposit by Cash or DD for ` 5000/- (` 1000/- in the case of SC/ SCA /ST

belonging to Tamil Nadu) and produce all their original certificates when they attend counselling. The Demand

draft should be drawn in favour of, “The Secretary, TNEA, Anna University, Chennai 25.

 If a candidate has deposited all the certificates in an institution where he/she has already been admitted, a letter

from the Head of the institution should be produced to that effect. In such case only, attested photocopies of

certificates from the Head of the institution will be accepted for verification. However, the provisional allotment

order will be withheld and it will be released only on production of all the original certificates.

Eligible candidates who have applied may appear for counselling according to their cut-off mark, two hoursbefore

their counselling session along with their original certificates for verification, irrespective of receipt of individual communication.

 The date, time and venue for counselling will be intimated to the candidates in Anna University website. Change of date/time of counselling is not permissible. Authorities are not responsible for any postal delay; or non-receipt of

intimation for counselling. Candidates who do not attend the counselling may have to forego the claim for admission.

 Due to unforeseen and unavoidable reasons, if a candidate is unable to attend the counselling on the specified date and time, he/she can authorise his/her parent on his/her behalf and the parent’s decision will be binding on the candidate.

If the ranking of candidate is changed due to re-totalling/revaluation mark, he/she can attend counselling as per

the new mark and rank, though the call letter specifies different time (as per original mark).

 Once allotted a seat the amount, ` 5,000/- (` 1000/- in case of SC / SCA / ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu) already paid at the time of counselling will be adjusted towards the tuition fee. If the candidate does not join after

allotment and seeks refund, only 80 % of the initial deposit amount paid at the time of counselling will be refunded,

if original allotment order with acknowledgement for the receipt of payment is surrendered on or before 31.12.2016.

The refund will be processed only through TNEA 2016 refund processing system available online in TNEA website.

All admissions made through single window system are provisional.

 TUTION FEE CONCESSION

 First Graduate Tuition Fee Concession

In the G.O. (st) No. 85 Higher Education (J2) Department dated: 16.04.2010, the Government have ordered to grant tuition fee concession to the candidates who are to be the first graduate in a family, those who are attending

counselling and joined in professional courses in Government / Aided and Self-Financing Engineering Colleges.

They have to upload the following: Certificate obtained from Head Quarters Deputy Tahsildar in the format

prescribed in the G.O. only in electronic form / digitally signed e-Certificate will be accepted which necessarily

should include the applicant’s father, mother, father’s father, father’s mother, mother’s father, mother’s mother,

brother (s) and sister (s) and joint declaration by himself and parent/guardian in the prescribed format.If the

applicant’s Brother or Sister has already availed First Graduate Tuition Fee concession for studying Professional

Courses, then the applicant is not eligible for such concession.

General

Candidates satisfying the eligibility conditions given below as on the last date of

submission of  online application are eligible to apply. Passing the  qualifying

examination after  the last date of submission of  online  application  shall not

be considered.

  Nativity

i)  Tamil Nadu candidates who have passed VIII, IX, X, XI and XII Std. in Tamil Nadu

are eligible to apply.They need not enclose Nativity Certificate.

ii)  Tamil Nadu native candidates who have passed any of the VIII, IX, X, XI and XII Std.

or their equivalent examination  from  schools  situated  outside  Tamil  Nadu  can  also 

apply.  They  should  enclose  a  copy  of Nativity Certificate only in electronic form/

digitally signed e-Certificate.

iii)  Children  of  Central  Government  Employees  may  also  apply  for  admission, 

of  their  native, provided their parents or guardians (only if both parents are not alive)

have been serving in Tamil Nadu continuously  for  the  past  FIVE  YEARS  at  the 

time  of  submission  of  application,  which  should  be supported by enclosing a

certificate from the employer of the parent or guardian, to that effect.

iv)  Sons and daughters of All India service Tamil Nadu cadre officers are eligible to

apply.

v)  Children  of  employees  in  Public  Sector  or  Government  recognised  Institutions 

who  at  the  time  of submission  of  application  for  admission  employed  in  Tamil 

Nadu  continuously  for  the  past  five  years may also apply  irrespective of their

domicile. A certificate from the employer has to  be  enclosed along with  the 

application  stating  that the  person  is  a  Permanent  Employee  of  the  Firm 

or  Institution concerned  with  evidence  like  Income  Tax  return,  PF  Slips,  etc. 

and  is  working  in  Tamil  Nadu  continuously for the past FIVE YEARS.

vi)  Other State candidates who have studied VIII, IX, X, XI and XII Std. in Tamil Nadu

are eligible to apply.

They need not enclose “Nativity Certificate”.

Note: 1.  Applications  without  proper  Nativity  Certificate  for  Category  (ii)  and 

without  proper  employer certificate for categories (iii) and (v) will not be considered.

2.  Tamil  Nadu  native  candidates  alone  will  be  considered  for  communal 

reservation.  Others  will be considered under “Open Competition”.

Sri Lankan Tamil Refugee

As per G.O. (St) No. 172 Higher Education (J2) Dept. dated: 29.06.2010 candidates

who are Srilankan Tamil Refugee studied in Tamil Nadu will be considered under

open competition. They have to enclose the following:

(i)  Identification certificate from the Head Quarters Tahsildar.

(ii)  Those  who  have  not  registered  in  the  refugee  camp  should  submit  a  copy  of 

passport,  visa  and  letter registered with Police Station.

Note:   (i)  When  the  candidates  produce  grade  certificates,  they  have  to  produce  the 

actual  marks  also  otherwise  only the  minimum  marks  applicable  to  the  grades  in  the  

eligible  subjects  (Mathematics,  Physics,  Chemistry  and Fourth Optional Subject) will be

taken into account. (ii)  For minimum eligibility rounding of marks and normalised marks will

not be considered.

Improvement marks:  As  per  the  G.O.  No.  184  HE  (J2)  Dept.  dt:  09.06.2005  and 

G.O.  (st)  No.  143  HE  (J2) Dept.  dt:  06.05.2008  improvement  marks  obtained  by  the  candidates 

including  Other  State  candidates  from  2006 onwards will not be considered.

4 Marine Engineering Branch:

The Director General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping, Government of India,  vide

Notification No. II. TR (21) 97 dated: 03.10.2002 have issued notification stating that,

for Marine Engineering Degree Programme the candidate should  pass  in  10+2  or 

equivalent examination  with  Physics  (P),  Chemistry  (C),  Mathematics  (M)  and 

English  as separate subject with an average of not less than 60 % in PCM. Further

a minimum of 50 % in Englisheither at 10th or 12th standard is required for all the

candidates.

Other Requirements:

(i)  Maximum age limit 25 years.

(ii)  Minimum Height 157 cm.

(iii)  Minimum Weight 48 kg.

(iv)  Normal Colour vision

Before selecting the course the candidate shall ensure that they are medically fit for the

course.The candidates will be admitted only on production of physical fitness certificate

obtained from the Medical Officer authorised by the Director General of Shipping, failing

which they will lose the admission.

5 Mining Engineering Branch

Note to Female candidate opting for Mining Engineering course.

(1)  As per Mines Act 1952, 46 (1) no woman shall, notwithstanding anything contained in

any other law, be employed –

(a) in any part of a mine which is below ground;

(b)  in any mine above ground except between the hours of 6 A.M. and 7 P.M.

(2)  As per Coal Mines Regulation 1957, 86 (2) no adolescent or women shall descent or

ascend a shaft in a cage or other means of conveyance unless accompanied by one or

more adult males.

(3)  They should satisfy the academic norms of Anna University.

MODE OF SELECTION                                                               

 (a) (i) ADMISSION TO GENERAL CATEGORY :

The selection of candidates will be based on the marks obtained in the prescribed

subjectsreduced to 200 (Mathematics – 100, Physics + Chemistry – 100) in the

qualifying examination.

 (ii) Normalisation of Marks and Inter-se Merit :

As per Tamil Nadu Acts No.3 of 2007, dt: 05.03.2007 and G.O. (Ms) No.77 HE (J2) Dept,

dt: 05.04.2007, the marks obtained by the students in the relevant subjects in the

qualifying examination conducted by various Boards or Authority shall be equated

with the marks obtained by the students in the same subjects in the qualifying

examination conducted by the State Board of Tamil Nadu by adopting the method

of normalisation.

(e.g.) If the highest mark secured by the student of State Board of Tamil Nadu in

Physics is 100 and the highest mark secured by a student of any other Board in the

same subjectis 90 both the highest marks will be considered to be equal to 100.

If a student of the other Board secures 60 marks in Physics when the first mark in

Physics in the same Board is 90, 60 marks will be considered to be equal to 66.66

marks as arrived below.

After normalisation of marks in the relevant subjects in the qualifying examination

conducted by different Boards, the qualified students shall be merged into a common

merit list. In the case of candidates who have qualified from National Boards namely

CBSE and ISCE, the highest mark obtained in the relevant subject by the candidates

at the National Level alone will be taken into consideration for normalisation. The

Other Boards will be requested to furnish the maximum marks scored in the relevant

subjects. In case, such marks are not available before the preparation of rank,

the maximum marks scored in that Board will be considered as 100 %.

For minimum eligibility, normalised marks will not be considered. A merit list will be

prepared based on the total mark of 200. In cases where more than one candidate

have got the same marks in the common merit list, the inter-se-merit among such

candidates shall be determined in the order of priority as specified below.

 (1) Percentage of marks in Mathematics,

(2) Percentage of marks in Physics,

(3) Percentage of marks in the Fourth optional subject,

(4) Date of Birth (elder will be given preference) &

(5) Random number assigned (higher value will be given preference).

The overall rank and Community wise rank lists will be published in Anna

University website http://www.annauniv.edu/tnea2016 .

Separate announcement will not be given in Newspapers.

The candidates will also be informed of their rank individually by post through the

counselling Call Letter.

The college and the branch will be provisionally allotted through counselling only,

as per their choice.

(iii) Admission to Special Reservation Categories Candidates who are applying for

seats under special reservation categories as in item 21 & 22 (Refer section 5.1

and 5.2) should satisfy the rules stipulated for admission. Allocation of these Special

Reservation seats will be followed as per communal reservation. Selection for item

21 will be based on the ranking as given in 6(a) (i) and (ii). Selection for item 22

will be based on the total marks obtained for achievements in Sports as per Annexure II.

If any vacancy arises it will be reverted to the general counselling in the respective

communities.

(b) ADMISSION OF VOCATIONAL STREAM CANDIDATES

100 seats in Category I and 4 % of seats surrendered in Category II have been set apart

vide G.O. (Ms.) No. 290 HE (J2) Dept. dt: 21.08.2007 for the HSC (vocational stream)

candidates. The academic marks in the prescribed subjects will be reduced to 200

(Related subject 100 marks, vocational subject including theory and practical 100 marks).

 Seats are not reserved in University Departments and University Colleges. Selection will

be made following the Communal reservation. Ranking and counselling will be separate

for vocational candidates. Out of 3 % Vocational seats in Category I and II, the

reservation for Differently Abled Persons candidates is 1 % for Orthopaedically

Differently Abled Persons,1 % for Hearing Impaired and 1 % for Visually Impaired.

 (c) ADMISSION TO SANDWICH COURSES: Sandwich courses in Mechanical

Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Production Engineering

are offered at PSG College of Technology under self-financing scheme.

The duration of the course is 5 Years. It comprises of practical training in the mornings

and class work in the evenings. There will be an additional fee payable towards practical

training and it will be intimated by the Principal of the college at the time of admission.

COUNSELLING  OF CANDIDATES :

 Candidates will be called for counselling in the order of their merit. Based on the merit

and communal reservation, allotment of the branch/college chosen by the candidate will

be made. Candidates have to opt for colleges and branches that are available at the

time of counselling. Candidates have to pay an initial deposit of ` 5000/- (`1000/- for

SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamilnadu) by Cash or DD and produce all

their original certificates when they attend counselling.

 If a candidate has deposited all the certificates in an Institution where he/she has

already been admitted, a letter from the Head of the Institution should be produced to

that effect. In such case only, attested photocopies of certificates from the Head of

the Institution will be accepted for verification. However, the provisional allotment order

will be withheld and it will be released only on production of all the original certificates.

 Eligible candidates who have applied may appear for counselling according to their

cut-off mark, two hours before the counselling session along with their original

certificates for verification, irrespective of receipt of individual communication. 

 The date, time and venue for counselling will be intimated to the candidates and would

also be available in Anna University website. No change of date/time of counselling is

permissible. Authorities are not responsible for any postal delay; or non-receipt of

intimation for counselling. Candidates who do not attend counselling have to forego

the claim for admission.

 Due to unforeseen and unavoidable reasons, if a candidate is unable to attend the

counselling on the specified date and time, he/she can authorise his/her parent on

his/her behalf and the parent’s decision will be binding on the candidate.

 Due to unforeseen reasons, if a candidate could not attend the counselling on the

specified date and time, he/she can attend on a subsequent time/date, during the

counselling period. But the candidate can only opt for the seats available at that time

and cannot claim any seat as per their original rank. If the ranking of a candidate is

changed due to re-totalling/revaluation of mark, he/she can attend counselling as per

the new mark and rank, though the call letter specifies a different date (as per original

mark). Once allotted a seat, the amount ` 5,000/- (` 1,000/- in the case of SC/SCA/ST

candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu) already paid at the time of counselling will be

adjusted in the tuition fee. If a candidate does not join after allotment and seeks refund,

only 80 % of the initial deposit amount paid at the time of counselling will be refunded.

In such cases original allotment order with acknowledgement for the receipt of

payment should be surrendered on or before 31.12.2016. The refund will be processed

only through TNEA 2016 refund processing system available online in TNEA website.

All admissions made through single window system are provisional.

CHOICE ONCE MADE IS FINAL AND CANNOT BE CHANGED.

National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) is being conducted by the Council of Architecture,

being the competent & final authority for the purpose of fixing norms and standards

for architectural institutions and having the necessary expertise to hold a Common Aptitude

Test in Architecture, at national level to provide a single window system for appearing in

aptitude test and to facilitate institutions, students and public at large for admission to First

year of 5 year B.Arch Degree Course at all recognized Institutions all over country.

It measures the aptitude of the applicant for specific field of study, i.e. Architecture.

The test measures drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity

and critical thinking ability, that have been acquired over a long period of time, and that are

related to specific field of study, i.e. Architecture.

Important Changes in NATA

 Please note that  the following changes are effective for NATA test starting from 1st April 2016.

 1. Starting 1st April 2016 Candidates can attempt NATA for a maximum of 5 (FIVE) TIMES

within Two Years from the date of their First attempt.

2. The best score out of the number of attempts till date will be the “ VALID SCORE ”

( Maximum of 5 ).

3.  "Best of 5 attempts” system will be applicable for the NATA test given from 1st April 2016 .

4. “ Validity of the “Best score” will be for 2 years from the date of their first attempt in 2016.

4. A new NATA Registration form is to be submitted online by the candidate at the NATA

website for every attempt and the required Fee to be Paid for Every attempt.

5. The mark list will show the “ best marks “ scored by the candidate among all his previous

attempts  ( Maximum of 5 ) as “VALID SCORE“

6. For determining the “ best of 5”  for the students who appeared for NATA test before 2016,

5 ( Five ) more attempts will be allowed and their earlier “last valid score” also will be

considered for obtaining the Best Score and for such students the validity of their “Valid score”

will be 2 years from the date of their First attempt in 2016.

7. Candidates, while seeking the repeat test appointment must declare their earlier exam

details as required in the application form (even if he has appeared in the previous years)

while registering for NATA 2016.

8. If any candidate is found registering afresh concealing the earlier appearance (including

registered but exam not given cases ) for NATA test, he / she will forfeit his / her candidature

and further his / her all previous scores will be cancelled and he / she will be barred from

appearing for NATA again.
